Valentine’s Day at the Food Pantry

February 16th, 2019|Latest News|

Happy Valentine’s Day!

So, what do some people do for Valentine’s Day? Flowers? Candy? Dinner and a movie? Nope.

Thinking of others, 4 high school students and 6 adults volunteered Thursday night to help brighten the hearts of 53 families in need. Along with food, bouquets of flowers from Walmart were handed out to the ladies along with homemade heart cookies donated by a local church for this Valentine’s Day.

Last year, we extended our hours to include 6pm-8pm on Thursday nights to help the working poor. During those two hours 50-75 families receive nutritious food that they may not otherwise be able to provide to their families.

Join our all #volunteer pantry. Bring the family, a group or have a team-building day for your colleagues. Visit our Volunteer page for more info. No time to volunteer? That’s okay! We rely solely upon your donations to meet the growing need. Visit our Donate page to find out how you can help #FightHunger.

A very nice staff they work very hard to serve the needs of their clients. I had an opportunity to meet a young woman there who chatted with me for a few minutes. She was a volunteer but she's typical of the people that are working there and she was friendly helpful intelligent and hard-working. You just don't see that very often in businesses anymore. Friendly that's a good thing.read more

Amazing Grace is awesome!! From the time that I was homeless, too only working part-time, to the more recent times of being out of work due to a surgery. I can honestly say that I would not have survived, food wise, without them. I have recommended them to several neighbors an now they are getting a helping hand too. Times are very hard right now and I thank God every day to that Ronni Fetzer with St. Vincent de Paul came into my life and introduced me to go yaall.read more

You can't find a kinder group of people anywhere, than on a day when we have lots of volunteers. I am proud to be a volunteer here myself (on the days that I can actually make it). If you need help for whatever reason, or you want to volunteer, just come on over. We'd be happy to help.read more

After reading about this non-profit food pantry, I am compelled to donate my money and time to this organization. Our family is giving back to those in need with our available resources. Our church does great work, but this is a tangible way to teach our girls what the word serviam really means. Ursuline taught me and now it is time to pass on the lesson.read more
